How exactly would bird flu be transmitted in the general population with no farm animal or direct bird exposure?

Great question. 1. Raw milk or cheese or other inadequately treated food products. 2. Animals we do encounter. Example: a semi-indoor cat gets it from poking around a dead bird--->then brings it to you. 3. If the virus mutates so that it has a higher concentration of receptors in the upper airway. We've SEEN these mutations in some of the cases, but fortunately those cases did not spread the virus, that we know of.
