I’m just randomly wondering if the IV supply is still a shortage or if we have sufficient IV fluid supply in hospitals and clinics nationwide ~ hopefully the current political issues don’t worsen our IV supply because climate change already did from unpredictable weather and disruptive storms ruining manufacturing plants and they’ve cut NOAA now so this is just starting to cause a public concern in the area of IV fluid manufacturing and supply … ? Thanks

My parents are in their upper 70’s. Born 1948 & 1949. One of whom is immunocompromised. They have received all Covid vaccines and two doses of the bivalent, the last one in October 2024. Should they get another bivalent vaccine & do we know how often? My dad wanted me to ask about the measles. They got vaccines as advised when children. Should he get another mmr to be safe? He is on peritoneal dialysis & wants to get all recommended vaccines for the immunocompromised. He lives in Mississippi. Thank you so much for the work that you do & the science you pass along to us. Hi Rachel,

Your parents can do a titer test that will measure the level of antibodies to determine if they might need to get revaccinated. Make them appointments with their primary care providers and request it. It’s a blood test. It will determine if they need another MMR or any other vaccine/immunization.

My dad has a hard time going outside the house to appointments, etc

If there is a possible concern, could he just get the mmr vaccine instead of having to go to two Dr. visits? Thank you.

But always check with his doctor first.

Can fired federal agency employees sue for wrongful termination or civil rights violations? If 1% of the federal workforce sues for $50K each, that adds up to $1B – not a good look for the DOGE savings dashboard.

I would ask your guest, "In view of Trump & Co.'s past approach to ignoring legal rulings in his impeachment trials (subpoenas), criminal cases, and practicing endless obfuscation through the legal proceedings...and currently doing the same plus not complying with the rulings for instance in terms of the ruling on USAID, retrospectively to pay for former commitments...how can we have much faith the legal route is effective or best route? (One of my best run-on sentences.)

Also if public health outbreaks and hospitalizations for viruses, infections, ailments increase under this admin because flu vaccines aren’t created and delivered on time as one example ~ iv fluid supply availability and security is important variable or factor to consider with increasing epidemics or pandemics in very chaotic political period like bird flu also, measles, TB, covid, RSV, new viruses evolving etc that may increase hospitalizations or community iv fluid usage ~ Norovirus shifts or even more of population suffering effects of wildfire smoke or other human health issues from changes to forestry, altered EPA regulations, altered FDA protective regulations i.e. foodborne illness…sudden climate shifts (increased heat exhaustion or heatstroke, snake bites ex.) .. requiring potentially more ER use or IV fluids in an abruptly changed societal and political system .. stuff to ponder 💭

As a Canadian, I have read that these cuts are already affecting our medical researchers. Can you elaborate on the implications for those outside the US? Thanks for your work.
