Doctors' Lounge: Public health under siege–The legal battles shaping the future of US medicine and science.
Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11, at 4 p.m. for a live Q&A on Substack Live.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, March 11) at 4 p.m. ET, I’ll be joined in the Doctors Lounge by Georgetown Law Professor Steve Vladeck over on Substack Live. To join us live, you will need the Substack app which is free. All Inside Medicine subscribers will receive an email with the link the moment we go live.
We’ll be discussing updates and the various legal considerations of the Trump administration’s far-reaching attacks on US medical, public health, and biomedical research assets, including USAID, the CDC, NIH-funded research, and more.
As I’ve said before, we need to understand the medical and scientific implications of what is happening as well as the legal ramifications. It’s no exaggeration to say that the very future of our national and global health likely depends on what happens in the US legal system in the coming weeks, months, and years. My goal for this session is to make sure we realistically understand where things stand and where they’re headed.
Please contribute questions you have for Steve and me in the Comments section below. I’m looking forward to an important, interesting, and lively conversation!
I’m just randomly wondering if the IV supply is still a shortage or if we have sufficient IV fluid supply in hospitals and clinics nationwide ~ hopefully the current political issues don’t worsen our IV supply because climate change already did from unpredictable weather and disruptive storms ruining manufacturing plants and they’ve cut NOAA now so this is just starting to cause a public concern in the area of IV fluid manufacturing and supply … ? Thanks
My parents are in their upper 70’s. Born 1948 & 1949. One of whom is immunocompromised. They have received all Covid vaccines and two doses of the bivalent, the last one in October 2024. Should they get another bivalent vaccine & do we know how often? My dad wanted me to ask about the measles. They got vaccines as advised when children. Should he get another mmr to be safe? He is on peritoneal dialysis & wants to get all recommended vaccines for the immunocompromised. He lives in Mississippi. Thank you so much for the work that you do & the science you pass along to us.
