Is it possible that there was full knowledge of this legal discrepancy when she was nominated AND the ACIP meeting rescheduled? After all, having the Secretary make a call that is dubious or having to reschedule ACIP again is an "oops" that works in favor of the chaos playbook.
I was actually considering they would reschedule AGAIN or potentially negate the recommendations of the upcoming ACIP meeting in some twisting of the regulations for appropriate signoff.
Let's hope the April meeting is held without a hitch.
On the leaving it to AI to make these kind of serious decisions, also outrageous at this point. Those that have been studying the susceptibility of AI to those that program it know and it has been proved AI can be even taught to be racist in it’s evaluations. Again, we are very far away place from regulating AI ability to be ethical.
There are 2 political appointees at the CDC. I'm sure someone believes that between the 2 of them and the Secretary of HHS, all bases are covered. And let us not discount the contributions AI could, would, and might make to HHS' decision-making process.
Outrageous and totally expected. Thanks for update.
thanks :)
Heartbreaking and mortifying at the same time.

Interesting but I think unlikely just because all the ACIP reschedule drama occurred when Dave Weldon was still the nominee.

AI can't make this call. Plain and simple. Not happening.

I guess Buzzelli could think that between himself and AI, he can do this. But..,as above, he's wrong.
I think the intent is to remove public health professionals from the decision loop and to leave the final decision to the Secretary of HHS.
Yes, that tracks. They want to consolidate power into the hands of a few. Which is not the Republican Party I remember...
