How do I know if I have RSV, versus, say, a "bad cold?"

Only way is to get tested. There are some at home tests but mostly these tests are given in clinical settings.

Wish you’d gone deeper here, maybe interviewed a vax expert, as my understanding is that KP3.1.1 is about as closely related to JN.1 as KP.3 so no reason to think novavax less effective (and might be more).

I feel like I was fairly balanced here, JJ. "That implies that the Moderna and Pfizer shots will be more likely to prevent infections, although we don’t know whether there will be much difference in other outcomes. While I think all of these options are fine, it would be great if we had clinical data to back up these decisions."

I am not sure I know of an expert who can speak to this in any way that is not mostly conjecture, tbh. But if you have any suggestions, I'm happy to reach out to them!

What’s the latest research on young men ages 18-26 or 30 getting myocarditis, arrhythmia, palpitations, or other cardiac symptom side effects from Moderna or Pfizer?

Is Novavax a better choice for young men with less cardiac side effects?

Just curious what people know regarding the science of young men and the side effects post vaccination ( some symptoms can last 4 days or a week after vaccination…hearing stories in community from my older kids’ peers ~ what’s the recent facts or research saying ?

Can you speak to any down sides to the RSV vaccine?

I’ve always believed that Spina Bifida was an extension of who I am. It’s a part of me, but, it’s not who I am. I don’t even like the word disabled. I prefer to say, I have physical issues rather than call myself DISabled. Hope that makes sense.

Context, it's my understanding GB syndrome has been observed (association, not cause & effect) following a number of viral infections.

Early safety data from US surveillance systems suggest that there may be an increased risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome after RSV vaccination in adults ≥ 60 years of age. However, an association has not yet been confirmed and this issue is being monitored closely.

CDC is somewhat guarded in its recommendations for the two versions of the vaccine... chat with your HCP.

Possibly, the concern with reported freq GB, 5/M for Pfizer and 1.5/M with GSK, Arexvy.

Arexvy or Abrysvo was given with a quadrivalent influenza vaccine, RSV & influenza antibody titers were generally somewhat lower... coadministration c.f. sequential admin (~1 mo apart).

When Abrysvo was administered concomitantly with Tdap vaccine in nonpregnant persons 18-49 yr's old, geometric mean antibody concentrations to the acellular pertussis antigens were reduced compared to administration of Tdap alone.

Clinical significance of these reductions is unknown

Abrysvo labeling recommends administering the vaccine at 32-36 weeks' gestation because preterm births were more common with Abrysvo than with placebo (5.7% vs 4.7%); a causal relationship has not been established.

ACIP RECOMMENDATIONS that until more
