It has been one week since I tested positive for Covid-19. I’m still testing positive on my rapid tests, but am feeling much better. I also mentioned that my parents were visiting. Many of you kindly asked what I did for them, especially regarding Paxlovid, and how they fared.

With their permission, I’m going to tell you now.

Oh, one thing. My “official” response to all Paxlovid questions for patients I do not personally treat is that they can safely follow CDC guidance.

Nevertheless, in real life, things are far more nuanced. In fact, in all three relevant situations in my own home this week, I did precisely the opposite of what the CDC guidelines would have advised.

I want to explain why.
