Thanks again for this. Concerning Item 1;

“This is just bad” is an understatement—perhaps outrageously bad, reprehensible, shocking, egregious or even scrofulous drives home the point even more.

Seems likely. For many years roughly half my ETOH intake was Communion on Sunday; current church uses grape juice.

The high level of interest in the origin of SARS-2 sure seems political. It's of interest to research folk in terms of biohazard safety, but otherwise seems moot to me.

A bigger concern that isn't spoken of much was the really poor decision to ignore the warnings and proceed with the New Year celebrations which include a great deal of travel. I suppose this is less spoken of since most governments (certainly the US) made similar poor decisions.

Haha, poll closed early!! I don’t drink…messes with my sleep patterns too much. Also after a couple of bowel surgeries, it messes with bowel habit too much to be worth it!!

What happened to the poll?

Not sure what happened to the poll, but I am a teetotaler. Alcohol doesn't agree with me, the only kinds of drinks I like are things like Kahlua and Cream, so it puts weight on me instantly that I can't afford, and I am on an antidepressant and use benzodiazepines several times a week, which would intensify the effects of alcohol on me. So, no imbibing for this woman.

My personal guess is 5% chance COVID-19 was lab accident in Wuhan, 90% chance it was Wuhan live animal market, 5% chance it was elsewhere. My guess at p(Wuhan Lab) has ranged from 5% to 15% at various times as new data became available.

Only case I know of that I am confident was likely anthropogenic global epidemic was an Influenza strain that emerged in 1970s: it was so similar to strain from 1950s that most experts think it had to have been sitting in a lab fridge somewhere, but nobody has found THE lab so there are multiple theories about when and where.
