As a physician myself (neonatologist) that’s also trying to stay politically informed , I was having a hard time staying on top of all the changes this Trump regime has been implementing. Your updates not only summarize everything beautifully, but also gives me great talking points and sources to repost to my non-medical community. Keep up the great work!
I admire many individuals, you Jeremy for example, for taking the time to evaluate, look at, in this instance, the firing of government employees, the possible 'good faith' reason(s), logical, valid, understandable explanation(s), reason(s) for any moves, including the mass firings of departmental government ! the reasons they have stated for any (yup - any) action, inaction even, has been proven without merit - at best. My kid brother crosses the Canada/USA border frequently & told me recently not to text what I think of the buffoon at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave for fear CBS agents may look at his phone & deny him crossing.

Snarkiness usually is a repellant to creating friendships but being kind, a normally welcoming individual to Canadians (grew up in northern Minnesota, grandpa's relatives still live in Alberta), the world has enough friction, especially lately, I shall overlook your detected really sharp criticism. Any so-called governmental executive tell you how to treat measles of a neighbor child - then, even though the patient (child) follows through by throwing salt over his/her shoulder, the patient/child still passes? With Dr Oz in charge, what will happen with Medicare Advantage? In all of this quest for fraud, I keep waiting for someone to look at Medicare Advantage which seems to have well documented examples of fraud and some denials that border on abuse.

OMG no one in the healthcare sphere would ever envision in 2026 we'd be relearning everything we should have been able to forget about measles & just get the vaccine 😢
Follow up question to yesterday's chat...apparently & to my surprise SSPE is noted in the monograph for MMR (measles)
As noted by Dr. Mina the occurence of SSPE is ~ 1:10,000. Given the vaccine is attenuated can one conclude such an event is by magnitude (due to being attenuated) is much less than 1:10,000?
Upon reflection I now understand the concept of the measles virus remaining dormant within the CNS...the sadness of parents now having that in their minds after their child recovers 🙏 from the infection 😢😢
Please accept the acknowledgement & appreciation for what you do & your parents can be proud (no doubt) the passion the instilled gives you the stamina to continue to offer "truth to power"!
