Nancy, I would instead call Republican Senators. The only Dem remotely a concern is Senator Whitehouse as a former law school roomie of Kennedy. Remember even if you are not even their constituent, they vote on important issues like this that impact ALL citizens of all parties. Remind them of that.
Both definitely if you have the time. I have always been told by legislators who even have actually taken my calls (mostly because I've worked with them and have established contacts, not because I'm brilliant) have told me #'s still count in terms of phone calls. And Dems have needed to be stronger for sometime. It will at least temporarily "fire-up" them and their constituents. We did used to be the Party of Action on the ground. Thanks for what you're doing.
Jeremy, Thank you for your posts about the recent CDC censorship. As a former CDC'er for over 20 years, EIS'85, such actions by the current administration is truly disheartening. Thanks for having Larry provide legal insights. My greatest concern at the moment is that an already compromised public health system will become even more so, especially among our state and local public health agencies that depend on CDC data, funding, and technical assistance.
Although, this won't mitigate the current chaos, but taking a suggested approach from Thomas Farley (Healthscaping), EIS'87 - is to concentrate on strengthening our state and local health departments through effective partnering with academic centers/programs and local health systems to ensure that all public health functions are maintained (i.e., surveillance, health protection, health promotion, emergency response, and 'brokering' of primary health care services). Looking towards our foundations and national/regional/local private funding sources, (e.g., RWJF, Kaiser Family Foundation, etc.) for funding of these population health functions. For data support, look to our more robust academic centers, e.g., University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute (US County Health Rankings); The University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (Global Burden of Disease) to just name two sources of good data that goes beyond the US system, but includes US data from sentinel reporting sites.
Again, not sure where you're finding time to chronicle this, but thanks! But also again, while much of what this diabolical bumbling administration is doing is not legal...1. the fear alone in such a massive org with massive responsibility will cause much destruction and this is just the beginning. In effect, it is exactly how terrorism works. 2. Our already busy court system will become clogged and overwhelmed. And remember there is a high price tag on "lawyering-up". I was advised to contribute to organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the ACLU for this reason back in 2016 (first Trump term), but this will be much broader, deeper, faster. At my low level of control I'm trying to help my local municipal gov tighten up and prepare. We are petrified in a low-revenue city of over 50% Latinos/Latinas. Trying to work with my Public Health Dept and Food Banks. And I'm now Chair of our Commission on Disability and when we met last week, we are all petrified watching grant programs and projects die. But we are sworn to pull together for this extremely vulnerable population. And this weekend, my husband and I went to Non-violent Resistance Training (which all of us should be doing).
Jeremy, did send out list with links in comments but it got lost in them after you asked. Unfortunately, I too have responsibility, a part time profession but with no paid staff, Chair of my city Commission on Disability, Advisory Committee for my city’s Comp Plan, and mostly wasted time on phone and online, and appointments, and treatments, and med insurance companies with disengaged docs (not like you) when I can get appts who don’t actually help me, wasting my billable hours for my job and community work, time with my family. I’m a seriously ill, disabled, complex-health-historied patient that takes more than 15 minutes. Mostly due to a long term failing healthcare system getting much worse. So…small window of time to respond here. But I keep adding to my List of What you Can Do and passing it on, gladly.

Firstly, thank you for this in depth article of the current situation with the CDC. We knew a second T presidency would be bad, but this is absolutely shocking. My question is, Is it still recommended for high risk people to get an additional Covid vaccine 4-6 months after the last one? I’m thinking once RFK Jr gets in (because I don’t have hope that they will reject him), I’m worried that Covid vaccines will be immediately affected. Thanks!
📞 ☎️ Congress to say NO to RFK Jr.
Call your senators NOW, and tell them not to confirm RFK, Jr. Read this:

I think both sides need to hear from us.

I am not sure. There are a lot of us (vets and MDs) working together on that.

Greg, Thank you for your service to us all. I share that concern. Any ideas on how to mitigate?

Lyn, Can you share information on nonviolent resistance training? Thanks!

simple question. So where will folks get information on Covid shots going forward, for example?
Honestly, that is entirely unknown.

I feel like we are drinking from the fire hose!
Yes, that's how it feels to me.
We will get answers
