Thank you for this update. Silencing scientists and filtering public health data through a political appointee is the kind of thing we expect from authoritarian regimes, not the U.S. Even if every CDC delay isn’t direct censorship, the chilling effect is undeniable—scientists are being forced into submission under Trump’s watch, and public health is taking a backseat to political control. In times like these, we need to stay sharp, stick to facts, and avoid false rumors that only serve to undermine real concerns.
Yes, what I was really thinking about as I wrote this (and it was actually a struggle that kept me up most of the night), was that these are examples of the old adage that bad policy leads to worse policy.
Thank you SO much for your consistent efforts at truth-telling! I agree wholeheartedly that we need to stay focused, not distracted, and fight the real fights.
Jeremy, understand the need for facts so we all stay strategic and accurate, but I'll put this out again since you may not have seen it...some of us have real access and long time experience with gov.,. My husband has 45 years of working in service (environmental) for FED AND STATE GOV and because all depts and agencies have tremendous interaction and dependence, and PROVIDE SERVICES AND IMPLEMENTATION TO ALL AMERICANS MOST OF WHOM HAVE NO IDEA OF WHICH HOW MUCH THEY BENEFIT FROM.
HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW
Jeff’s Fed dept as of today from Feb. 6:
Jobs: EVERYONE (from office secretary to senior level management) in one of those massive departments received an email and CONTRACT telling them they should consider leaving their position to get severance. They have already lost many, many this week to early retirement, new hires, and perm employees. My husband says he has NEVER seen anything like this in his long career, but we both expected it.
WHAT ELSE: Projects Contracts are being pulled out of. In the Fed gov there is a dept responsible for managing contracts and they are being hit hard. PARTICULARLY ON THE DEI FRONT for hiring contractors.
REALLY BAD: The Fed EOPF (Electronic Official Personnel File ) has been taken over. Employees past and present CANNOT ACCESS THEIR FILES FOR FUTURE EMPLOYMENT. These files include Performance, Payroll, Time in Service, Grade Level, Awards, and Annual Performance Reviews. And lots of personal and professional info in these. THIS FED DEPT IS REALLY GETTING HIT HARD FOR SCRUTINY ON DEI REFERENCES EVEN ON TRAINING PROGRAMS LET ALONE HIRING.
PROGRAMS: Are already being shut down using DEI fine tooth comb, blocking grants and funding, and reducing staffing.
In the Fed Gov, EVERYONE IS PROBATIONARY FOR THEIR FIRST YEAR. Not because of performance issues. Trump is improperly using that to lay-off employees.
Multiply these impacts for every Dept in the Fed Gov, let alone the Treasury issue, and data and research access and publication impact, already known and substantiated by the depts themselves and journalists. Though many journalists don’t know as much as the workers on the ground.
I would also add that as we are getting closer to the end of the month many of us are looking to see if our paychecks and checks for Social Security. Social Security disability.. and Fed workers paychecks will come in per usual.
Thank you so much for insuring that we have the truth so we can focus our efforts appropriately & effectively. It is essential to maintain credibility!
And though I have posted and warned people in person with accompanying ways to strategize and support each other, the biggest one may be that we all need to give voice to others, especially the most marginalized and impacted. If you have a larger microphone like Jeremy., then it is indeed your responsibility to give voice to those of us even on the ground, literally being impacted as we all chat online, but who do not have the microphone power that he and others do. And I am speaking of documented facts from us.
My husband works for U.S. Fish and Wildlife and has allowed me to post what I have given you publicly. And I would respectfully suggest that you can give this information to those that you speak with and interview. And as always., I also understand that this is what you were trying to do here in your sub stack with all of us and I’m grateful for it.
I expect Blue States to be economically punished by the regime, and Red States to be rewarded. As long as Red States bow the knee, they will be rewarded. The blather that comes from the head of the regime purposefully adds to confusion and loss of trust. That being said, thank you Jeremy.

File under "you won't miss it til its gone" and the frogs boiling in the water analogy. As you say, there are so many people at risk.

Yeah that would be quite the rude awakening...

wholeheartedly agree. And maybe I should post some of these comments online. But I don't want to do that without permission :)

I worry about that too. The favored will be favored. But we'll see.
