Preview: Why empathy should drive our global health agenda. With Dr. Craig Spencer and Dr. Jeremy Faust.
Join us today, July 8, at noon ET for a live conversation on Substack Live.
Okay, so this picture of me and Dr. Craig Spencer was taken in my backyard literally three days ago. Little did I know that Craig had a New York Times essay scheduled to come out on Monday. Come on, dude, you gotta tell me these things!
Not a surprise to anyone who knows Craig, but it’s an important and beautifully written piece about empathy entitled “You Don’t Have to Be a Doctor to Understand This.”
Who are we as a nation? Why do we do global health? Why do we bother to help others? What is America’s future as the leader in assuring a healthier human family? Craig not only answers these questions in his essay, but he also provides much-needed moral leadership.
I asked Craig to join me once again in The Doctor’s Lounge, the Substack Live for Inside Medicine, to discuss these questions. He graciously agreed. Please join us today at noon ET! To join us live, click this link (you can watch on any device, including the Substack app). To add it to your calendar, click here. All Inside Medicine subscribers will also receive an email with the link the moment we go live. (Note: This session will also be posted on Inside Medicine afterwards.)
Please contribute questions you have for us in the Comments section below, and we’ll try to get to as many topics as we can. I’m looking forward to an interesting and lively conversation!
Here’s the link and the calendar invite.
See you soon!

I am extremely happy to have watched this Live Event and to have seen 2 young doctors discuss the "softer side" of medicine.
It gives me great hope in passing the torch!
