Hi all!
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Today (Thursday, May 18th, 2023), I’ll be going live on Instagram to discuss adolescent mental health with Dr. Amanda Calhoun (Yale) and Dr. Jessi Gold (Washington University, St. Louis).
We’ll discuss what was happening before the pandemic and what has happened since. Indeed, Covid-19 hardly caused the adolescent mental health problems in this county. But treatment for mental health in young US adults has risen over that period, from 18.5% in 2019 to 23.2% in 2021.
Is that increase a result of the added stress of the pandemic? Or is it simply the increased availability of mental health services due to the sudden expansion of telehealth in the last 3 years?
We’ll discuss that and more. To watch live, follow the Medpage Today Instagram account. (For those who can’t make it, we’ll try to get a link up to the interview).
Here are the brief bios of my guests. Please add your questions for these experts to the comments!
Jessica (“Jessi”) Gold, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine, specializing in college mental health, medical education, and physician wellness. Amanda Calhoun, MD, MPH is a third-year Adult/Child Psychiatry Resident at Yale School of Medicine. Please check us out live today at 2pm ET. To join us, please follow the MedPage Today Instagram account. Again, we’ll also post the session online later for anyone who is interested.
See you soon! —Jeremy
Just wondering, the frequency of newsletters has dropped off-- where do things stand? I can’t use notes -- I find it confusing
