A private space for Inside Medicine readers to converse and connect.
Today I’m announcing a brand new addition to my Substack publication: the Inside Medicine subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers — kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
Today, Thursday December 1st at 12pm ET (noon), we’ll be discussing some recent Inside Medicine posts, focused on keeping safe in the coming months. I’m especially interested in discussing how we can protect the vulnerable and still enjoy the things we love to do. And we can tackle tougher questions as well. There are some big things and some small and easy actions we can take!
Here are some recent articles we’ll be discussing:
•How to not kill Grandma (or anyone, including yourself) this Thanksgiving. (Or Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/New Years!)
•Thinking through the holidays this year (by Dr. Katelyn Jetelina, of Your Local Epidemiologist).
And for thinking about navigating tougher times with care….
•What I'm reading: Daniela Lamas's "When the Treatment of Last Resort Sends a Life Into Limbo."
•Data snapshot: Which states's nursing homes are in trouble?
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app (messages are sent via the app, not email). Turn on push notifications so you don’t miss a chance to join conversation as it happens.
The chat/thread is already live, technically! But I’ll actually be “online,” chatting and answering questions starting at 12pm noon ET for about an hour.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Chat is only on iOS for now, but chat is coming to the Android app soon.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
The chat went live a few minutes ago, but I’ll be “on” at noon. So come on over and say hello!
