It has now been about two weeks since I tested positive for Covid-19. It’s a strange thing, becoming infected with the very virus I’ve spent the last four years obsessively studying and trying to understand. I always knew my number would come up someday. I vowed that when that happened, I would endeavor to learn something from the experience.

Me, two weeks ago, on Day 3 of my Covid illness. Technically “mild” illness, but “miserable,” not to mention disruptive to work and family nonetheless. So, here is a collection of thoughts and insights I’ve had over the week, as I went from being an ER doctor and researcher on the frontline of the Covid-19 pandemic to a patient.

So, now that I’m finally fully recovered from the experience, I’d like to share my personal observations—including a few things that surprised me, and some which did not…
